SECTIONS

CHAMPIONSHIP CFC Rating 1500+ (1200+ CMA) or players with 2+ years tournament

experience but not rated by the CFC ( Chess Federation of Canada) or CMA

INTERMEDIATE CFC Rating 1100 to 1499 (800 to 1199 CMA) or players with more than 2

years of chess playing experience.

BEGINNER CFC Rating under 1100 (800 CMA) and less than 2 years experience.

 

ROUNDS

Friday 1:00 pm, 7:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am 2:00 pm / 3:00 pm , 7:00pm [Beg & Int ONLY]

Sunday 9:30 am ... followed by AWARDS at 3:00pm

 

TIME CONTROL

Rounds 1 and 2: Championship and Intermediate: 2 hours / player. Maximum 4 hours for each game.

Rounds 3 6 : Championship: 40 moves / 1 hours* , then hour* sudden death. Maximum 5 hours

* 30 second increment added after each move

Intermediate: 2 hours / player. Maximum 4 hours

Beginner: 1 hours / player. Maximum 3 hours [Beginner uses this TC for all rounds.]

 

EQUIPMENT

1. Sets, boards, and clocks are supplied, thanks to the Ontario Chess Association.

2. Schools should bring sets and clocks for practice / skittles

 

PRIZES

Team prizes awarded to the top teams of 3 students from the same school in each section.

Combined team prizes awarded to the top teams of 3 students from the same school (1 in each section)

Individual prizes: trophies, medallions, and gift certificates (Chess n Math) by section & grade.

Trophies and gift certificates will be awarded to the TOP FEMALE PLAYER(S).

EARLY ARRIVAL / LATE DEPARTURE

Teams travelling a long distance are invited to arrive Thursday night and / or stay Sunday night. Bed and breakfast: $35 per person per night. Parking $15 per extra day.

REGISTRATION

The final day to register for the tournament is Monday April 30th

 

ENTRY FEES:

Individual: $50 School or Family registering at least 3 players: $40 each

ACCOMMODATION: Bed and breakfast $35 per person per night

To ensure that you have a place to stay on campus, please ensure that you register by April 30, 2012.

 

MEALS: $50 includes meal tickets for: Fri dinner, Sat lunch and dinner, Sun lunch.

All meals can be purchased on site with cash, debit, or credit.

Meals purchased on site will cost slightly more, as you will pay for each item.

 

PARKING: $27 Fri-Sat-Sun paid in advance; add $15 Thurs and $15 Mon if needed

If not paid in advance, use the pay-and-display on site (cost may be higher).

 

LATE ENTRIES may be taken May 1 -- 18 at $75 each (no team or family discount) only if space is available. No accommodation will be available for late entries.

No registration can be accepted after May 18, 2012.

There will be no on-site registration.
