SECTIONS

Championship             CFC Rating 1500+  or players with 2+ years of

tournament experience but not rated by the CFC or CMA

Intermediate                 CFC Rating 1100 to 1499  or players with 2+

                                       years of chess playing experience

Beginner                      CFC Rating under 1100  and less than 2 years of

chess experience.

 

SCHEDULE       Friday         All Sections:                  1:00 pm, 7:00 pm

Saturday     Beginner, Intermediate: 9:00 am, 2:00 pm, 7:00pm

                   Championship:              9:00 am, 3:00 pm

Sunday        All Sections:                  9:30 am

Award Ceremony:                   3:00pm

 

TIME CONTROL

Beginners,                 all rounds:    1˝ hours per player, maximum 3 hours per game

Intermediate,     all rounds:   2 hours per player, maximum 4 hours per game

Championship, rounds 1–2: 2 hours per player, maximum 4 hours per game

Championship, rounds 3–5: 40 moves in 1˝ hours* per player, followed by ˝ hour* sudden death, maximum 5 hours per game.

(*30 seconds added after each move),  

PRIZES              

Combined Team Trophy is awarded to the team of 3 students from the same school (1 student from each section) with the highest combined score. 

Team Prizes:         medallions and gift certificates (Chess’n Math) are awarded in each section to teams of 3+ students from the same school who played in the same section and obtained the highest combined scores in the section. 

Individual Prizes:  medallions and gift certificates (Chess ’n Math) by section & grade

EQUIPMENT      We thank the ONTARIO CHESS ASSOCIATION for providing

chess sets, boards, and clocks for the tournament.

Players should bring their own sets and clocks for practice/skittles.

 

TOURNAMENT   ENTRY   FEES                  

Before May 9, 2014                Individuals:                    $50 per player

                                                          Team of 3+ players:       $40 per player

May 9 to 16, 2014                             Individuals and Teams: $75 per player

                                                No accommodation is guaranteed for late entries

After May 16, 2014                 No registration will be accepted.

ACCOMMODATION (single rooms)       $40 per person per night

The price includes taxes. Breakfast is not included.

To ensure accommodation, please, register by May 9, 2014.

Teams / players travelling a long distance are welcome to arrive Thursday night and/or stay Sunday night.
